Terms
Terms of use
These terms apply when you play Machia or use this site. When you do, you agree to them. They apply from 13 October 2026.
Who provides Machia
Centone Games provides Machia, the daily battle, and this site, playmachia.com, which tells you about it and takes you to it.
You can write to Centone Games at hello@playmachia.com.
How you play
Machia is free to play, in your browser. You do not need an account, and there are no ads. There is one board a day, the same board for everyone. The rules of the game are on How to play.
Whose work it is
The game is Centone Games' work: the boards, the look, the code and the words, in the game and on this site. The typefaces are their designers' work, used under their open licences. You are welcome to play the game and to share your results. If you are writing about Machia, you may quote this site. For anything else, please ask first.
Rithmomachia itself is centuries old and belongs to no one. Machia's look is inspired by the Bayeux Tapestry. Machia is not connected with, or endorsed by, anyone who holds or shows the tapestry.
Your privacy
What this site logs, what the game records, and how to turn the game's recording off, are on the privacy page.
No warranty
Machia and this site are provided as they are. Centone Games makes no promise that they will always be available, or free of mistakes. Either may change, or stop, at any time.
Limits on liability
As far as the law allows, Centone Games is not liable for any loss that comes from playing Machia, using this site, or not being able to. This does not limit liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else the law does not allow to be limited. Nothing in these terms affects your legal rights as a consumer.
Changes to these terms
Centone Games may change these terms. The new terms will be on this page, with the date they apply from. If you keep playing or using this site after that date, the new terms apply to you.
The law that applies
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you can also bring proceedings in the courts there.
